2022CHRISTMAS PROGRAMS A listing of holiday programs and meals in Wichita, Kansas • Please note - Applicants may only apply for one of the main programs, Operation Holiday or Salvation Army. • Information is provided as a community service and does not necessarily constitute endorsement or approval by United Way of the Plains, 245 N. Water, Wichita, KS 67202. • This information is updated regularly; please call 211 for the most current listings Christmas with Jesus @ His Helping Hands Registration for new toys: Sept 1st – Oct 12th His Helping Hands provides gifts for children ages 2 - 14 years. Register for new toys until Oct 12th from 9am – 3pm, Mon – Fri at 1441 E. 37th St. N. Parents must bring photo ID and proof of address along with either a birth certificate or social security card for each child. All these names will be submitted to Central Christian Church for inclusion on the Tree of Angels. The new toys can be picked up at HHH Monday, 12/12 through Thursday, 12/15 from 9am to 3pm. The HHH used toy distribution will be conducted over a three-day period according to the schedule below: • Saturday, 12/10/22, 9:30 - 11am – 75 families. • Monday, 12/12/22, 9:30 – 11am – 50 families. • Tuesday, 12/13/22, 9:30 – 11am – 50 families. Please call the HHH office at 316-838-8528 to make an appointment to shop for used toys during one of these times. Christmas with The Salvation Army Applications will be accepted online from Monday, October 17th – Friday, October 21 To complete an application, please go online to www.salvationarmy-wichita.org No in-person applications will be done this year. Only one application per household: For households with children 18 and younger select “Angel Tree”. Please have 2 gift ideas ready for each child 18 years of age and younger. For Senior Adults (age 60+) Households with no children in the home, select “Star of Hope”. You will receive a food voucher this year and can apply for a household gift (receiving household gift is dependent upon donations received). • Be prepared to enter income for the entire household. • At the distribution center, you must bring original IDs for everyone in your household to receive your gifts. You will a notification in early December instructing you of the date, time and location to pick up your gifts and food voucher. • If you cannot complete your application on-line, please call 316-425-6123 starting October 17 to complete your application over the phone. Hours for the phone applications are Monday - Friday from 10 am-3 pm. Operation Holiday Applications will be accepted online only this year from Tuesday, Nov 1 – Wednesday, Nov 30 Each year HumanKind Ministries distributes basic necessities such as food, kids' coats, and blankets to those who need it most through Operation Holiday. Children 14 and under receive toy presents through our partnership with U.S. Marine Corp Reserve Toys for Tots program. Drive-thru distribution will be Dec 14-17. Eligibility Guidelines: You must live in Sedgwick County, be age 18 or older (emancipated teens age 17 may apply with documentation), be a member of the applying household (only one application per household), meet income eligibility requirements, and must not have applied for another holiday program. Applicants must be able to provide: proof of identification (photo ID), social security numbers or proof of identification for every member of the family (including children), birth date for all family members, proof of income for all adult members of the household, telephone or message number. If you do not have access to the internet, please call 316-777-6097 to complete a phone intake. HOLIDAY MEALS The Lord’s Diner The Lord’s Diner will serve meals for the Christmas Day Dinner, December 25th at both locations, 520 N. Broadway and 2825 S. Hillside from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Guests will have the option to either come in to sit down and enjoy their meal or take it to go. To go meals will also be available through the food trucks at the following locations: • Atwater Neighborhood Resource Center, 2755 E. 19th St, 4-6 pm - To-Go meals • Evergreen Neighborhood Resource Center, 2700 N. Woodland - near 27th and Arkansas, 4-5 pm - To-Go meals • Hilltop Community Center, 1329 S. Terrace, 4-6 pm - To-Go meals Please call 266-4966 if you need additional information
